Synchronising Contacts on the iPhone using SyncML

Please note that currently Apple do not allow third party applications to access the iPhone’s calendar. As a result, the Synthesis SyncML client currently only supports Contact synchronisation, however they do plan to add Calendar synchronisation in the near future once Apple allow them to.

In its current form with only Contact synchronisation, the Synthesis client is free, but they have said that once Calendar synchronisation is available the client will become a chargeable application.

From the Apple iPhone AppStore, download and install the Synthesis SyncML client (search for ‘Synthesis’, you’ll find two entries but they both appear to be the same app).

Once installed, run the SyncML client.

Click on ‘Settings’ at the bottom of the screen.

Click on ‘Server Settings’ and configure as shown here:-

Server:
URL: http://172.17.9.11:3000//mdsyncml.dll (replacing 172.17.9.11) with your own server’s IP address or host name.
SyncML Version: automatic
Ignore SSL errors: OFF

Server Login:
User: Your email address
Password: Your MDaemon account password

Click on ‘Synchronise’ at the bottom left of the screen and then click ‘Start Synchronisation’

A full user manual for the client is available on the Synthesis website here:-
